Wanderer is the tenth studio album by American musician Cat Power, released worldwide by Domino on October 5, 2018. The album is the first Cat Power release since 1996's What Would the Community Think not to be issued under Matador Records. According to Power – real name Chan Marshall – executives at Matador outright rejected the completed album, and told her to "Do it again.

The material mainly consists of tracks from Jukebox. If you’re a fan they’re definitely worth a listen. The Williamsburg Brooklyn-based culture guide to New York and beyond.

The Greatest (Cat Power album). The Greatest is the seventh studio album by Cat Power, the stage name and eponymous band of American singer-songwriter Chan Marshall. All tracks on the album were written by Marshall, making it her first album not to include any cover songs. The Memphis Rhythm Band includes Roy Brewer, Teenie Hodges, Steve Potts, Dave Smith, Rick Steff, Doug Easley, Jim Spake, Scott Thompson and Susan Marshall.

Mid-album, there is a Rihanna cover, Stay: not the whole song, just the bits that resonated with Marshall when she heard it on the radio. Her two covers albums – The Covers Record (2000), Jukebox (2008) – helped to establish Cat Power as a subtle and effusive interpreter of other people’s songs as much as a wayward talent of her own. Ramblin’ (Wo)man, a spacious, jazzy Hank Williams cover from Jukebox, might be a relevant precursor here

Chan Marshall will release a new Cat Power album this fall, her first since 2012’s Sun. It’s called Wanderer and will be out on 10/5 via Domino Records. It’s her first album not being put out on Matador since 1996. The album is 11 tracks long and one of them features Lana Del Rey, who Marshall opened for on a European tour earlier this year. Wanderer was recorded in Miami and Los Angeles over the last few years.
