Recently, Jamaican Queens announced their new album Downers would be released June 2, the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2013 debut Wormfood. Home recording the 10-song album, the band crafted Downers with an ambiguous combination of reverb soaked symphonic glam, swirling ‘60s simplicity, eerie avant-dance pop, and experimental electronics with sophisticated, melodic arrangements. Combined with the eccentric personalities of the trio, the result is a musical alchemy rendering their songs challengingly unique and wistfully familiar.
