The Braxtons is an American musical quintet consisting of singer Toni Braxton and her sisters, Traci Braxton, Towanda Braxton, Trina Braxton, and Tamar Braxton. Despite being commercially unsuccessful, the group's first single, "Good Life", led to oldest sister Toni Braxton's solo career. All five members reunited in 2011 to star in the WE tv reality television series Braxton Family Values alongside their mother, Evelyn Braxton.

Their debut single 'The Good Life' featured the 5 sisters doing harmonies and verses - even considering the quality of the track, it practically went unnoticed even by the more vivid soul fans. In 1991, Toni pursued a solo career and Traci left the group without apparent reasons. The Braxtons' were a '90s RnB group conformed by the sisters Toni, Trina, Traci, Towanda and Tamar Braxton.

Childhood & Early Life. Toni Braxton was born on October 7, 1967 in Severn, Maryland, to Michael and Evelyn Braxton. Her father was a minister, which is why she was brought up in a very strict religious environment. Braxton signed a contract with Arista Records and ‘The Braxtons’ released their first single ‘The Good Life’ in 1990. It was not a great hit but got her a deal with LaFace Records. The year 1992 marked the beginning of Braxton’s prolific career as she was asked to replace Anita Baker and sing for Eddie Murphy’s movie ‘Boomerang’.

The Braxtons released a single in 1990 called "The Good Life," and while it wasn't a hit, it caught the attention of . Reid and Babyface, the red-hot on team who had just formed their own label, LaFace (which was associated with Arista). Braxton became the first female artist signed to LaFace in 1991, and the following year she was introduced to the listening public with a high-profile appearance on the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy's Boomerang. Anticipation for Braxton's first album ran high, and when her eponymous solo debut was released in 1993, it was an across-the-board smash, climbing to number one on both the pop and R&B charts. It spun off hit after hit, including three more Top Ten singles in "Another Sad Love Song," "Breathe Again," and "You Mean the World to Me," plus the double-sided R&B hit "I Belong to You"/"How Many Ways.
