Pink Moon is the third and final studio album by the English musician Nick Drake, released in the UK by Island Records on 25 February 1972. It was the only one of Drake's studio albums to be released in North America during his lifetime: the only previous release there had been a 1971 compilation simply entitled Nick Drake featuring tracks from both his first two albums, which were not released in North America in their original forms until 1976.

Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, released on 25 February 1972, is a short and intense masterpiece from the British folk singer-songwriter. By 1971, the 23-year-old was overwhelmed by depression and had lost all confidence as a live performer. His final public gig, at Ewell Technical College, in Surrey, in June 1970, had been abandoned halfway through the song ‘Fruit Tree’ before a disconsolate Drake walked off stage. Drake then snuck away with producer John Wood to lay down a new album, which was recorded over just two late-night sessions at Sound Techniques in London’s Chelsea, in October 1971. Wood later said that it felt like there was a kind of urgency about it. Listen to Pink Moon right now.

Pink Moon is the third and final studio album by the English folk musician Nick Drake. The album was released on February 25, 1972, on Island Records. Pink Moon is unique in its presentation. The album features surrealist cover art, poetic and symbolic lyrics, Nick Drake’s slurring, solemn voice, and his artfully-skilled acoustic guitar playing. Unlike his previous two records, Pink Moon is performed solely by Drake, without guest musicians. Nick Drake alluded to doing a solo album in the only interview he ever gave, conducted by Jerry Gilbert for Sounds in 1971

Nicholas Rodney Drake (Yangon, 19 giugno 1948 – Tanworth-in-Arden, 25 novembre 1974)  . I recently bought these albums real good lyrics it was a shame died young in his late 20. .

There is a stillness to Nick Drake's music that bewitches anyone who gets near enough, and Pink Moon is its purest expression. Last night I was listening to this album, extremely anxious for a film studies test the next morning. I should've been asleep, or at least cramming in some extra revision, but I just couldn't get myself to do that. There's an odd type of nostalgia I feel with this album. Despite this album being over 40 years old, I'm still relating it to my own past. The moments of when I was young and innocent.
