Argus is a music studio album recording by WISHBONE ASH (Prog Related/Progressive Rock) released in 1972 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Argus Extra tracks · Remastered Geffen 2002.

It was named "Album of the Year" in the 1972 year-end issue of Sounds magazine. The album is medieval-themed, featuring a blend of progressive rock, folk, and hard rock, and is considered a landmark album in the progression of twin-lead guitar harmonisation later adopted by bands such as Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden. In 2002, an expanded CD was released, featuring a remix (by Martin Turner) of the original album as well as 3 live tracks from the EP Live from Memphis promotional EP, recorded in the studios of WMC-FM. This included the 1972 mix as well as additional BBC Session tracks. In 2008, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash released a new studio recording of Argus.

Wishbone Ash's Argus was so extraordinary that its popularity became a bugbear for the band. It’s unusual for a group that’s been around for almost 40 years and released a huge catalogue of live and studio recordings to be defined – some might even say overshadowed – by one album in particular. But that’s very much the case with Wishbone Ash and Argus.

by their relative facelessness and the generic nature of their compositions, Argus, their third album, was the one on which they looked like they finally were going to forge their own unique amalgamation of all those styles into a sound of their own. The album boasted extended compositions, some of them ("Time Was," "Sometime World") actually medleys of different tunes, played with assurance and developing into imaginative explorations of new musical territory and group interaction.
