Now!, we've been offered mostly the warm, mellow, imagistic Darnielle. The songs amble through the speakers' doom-sap and analyze love's overpromises. The narrators are viziers of tiny, silly empires, and Darnielle knows it- his liner notes indicate that they project "near-apocalyptic weight to their petty grievances.
