String Octet in C major, O. Enescu acknowledged that his String Octet, written when he was only nineteen years old (!), was a transitional work, coming as it did between his highly accomplished juvenilia (he had written four worthy "Study" Symphonies by the age of sixteen) and the first appearance of his mature voice.

Chamber music constitutes a major portion of Enescu's works. The Octet in C major Op. 7 was composed in 1906 and is divided into three movements. Together with the Wind Decet in D major Op. 14 it was one of the most celebrated works to be performed in Paris at the beginning of the century. The Octet Op. 7 was composed in 1900 for strings (four violins, two violas and two cellos). As the caesurae the movements are not very emphatic, the impression of a continuous melody emerges
Symphony No. 3, Op. 21, in C major is a large-scale orchestral-vocal composition by the Romanian composer George Enescu, written in 1916–18. Enescu began writing the Third Symphony at Sinaia in May 1916, not long before Romania entered the First World War. During the withdrawal of Romania to the province of Moldavia in face of the invading forces of the Central Powers, he finished the first movement in 1917 at Iași.
