Joseph Harry Fowler Connick, Jr. (born September 11, 1967) is an American singer, conductor, pianist, actor, and composer. He has sold over 25 million albums worldwide.
Harry Connick, Jr. spent most of the '90s exploring second-line funk, making a name for himself in movies, and generally distancing himself from his classic crooner image. By the late '90s, it seemed as if the pianist/vocalist had lost the plot and it was hard to remember what made him such a phenomenal jazz talent.

I got introduced to Harry Connick Jr through his take on Billy Goat stomp on Marsalis' Mr. Jelly Lord album. That was just about the wildest off-beat piano playing I'd ever heard and I started looking for more in this vain. Turned out that was easier said than done, as Connick appeared to be active more in other creative areas. I did pick up Come By Me somewhere down the line, which I liked a lot, but I kept hoping for some more piano-based recordings. Lofty's Roach Souffle, a Connick Trio album from the '90's has a much more lighthearted feeling. Be aware that Other Hours is much more in the vein of West Coast Cool. You will get your money's worth out of this one. I've heard it a half dozen times and am still hearing it like it's new.
