The English alternative rock band Radiohead have released nine studio albums, one live album, four compilation albums, one remix album, nine video albums, six EPs, 31 singles and 39 music videos. Radiohead released their debut studio album Pablo Honey in February 1993. It peaked at number 22 in the United Kingdom, receiving platinum certifications from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
On May 8, Radiohead unveiled A Moon Shaped Pool-its first studio album in five years, and the latest in a decades-long career that’s seen the band grow from a scrappy, slightly sour-pussed guitar-rock outfit to a sprawling, slightly sour-pussed experimental combo. Here’s our ranking of the group’s studio efforts;.
If the recording process for Radiohead’s second album, The Bends, sounds torturous, it also sounds like how they recorded most of their other albums. Kid A spanned 18 months and half a dozen different studios. In Rainbows took two and a half years. Looking back at The Bends, it’s easy to see the blueprint for Radiohead’s later, wilder sounds - how a band dubbed Nirvana-lite became a genre unto itself.
The guitarist has also said he intends to tour the record. Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien has revealed he hopes to release his debut solo album later this year. The guitarist initially announced he was working on his own record back in 2016, saying at the time he wanted to release it by the end of 2018 or start of 2019. In a recent appearance on That Pedal Show, he now said he was looking to put out the as-yet-untitled album in September 2019.
Radiohead's first full-length work is not a bad album. But it's obviously the weakest offering in a lineup of really, really good albums. This is the band in its teething, Brit-alt-rock infancy. The 1993 LP is a clear product of the band's influences (Pixies, the Smiths, the Cure) that never fully delivers the trademark style and ambition that would later make Radiohead legendary. Despite its high energy, this album lacks swagger and personality. Still, you'll find moments of value here.
Recorded Live At The "Later With Jools" Holland On June 9th 2001, Broadcasting By "BBC Two" Digipak. Matrix, Runout: HALL. Other Versions (1 of 1) View All. Cat.
Easily Radiohead's most cohesive album, although they have become masters of soundscapes and mood. Taking the listener from the madness of technology overload and contemporary schizophrenia to an unsettled love and reconciliation in 55 minutes. Interestingly, the band's three best albums (The Bends, OK Computer, and In Rainbows) end on a hopeful note, even though the last songs are desperately sad.
