Released hot on the heels of Trythall's previous synth-meets-South concept record Country Moog, Nashville Gold doesn't deviate much from the established pattern, although the latter-day C&W covers ("Wichita Lineman," "Ode to Billie Joe," and "Honey") more closely balance out the standards ("Tennessee Waltz," "Mockingbird Hill" and, for good measure, "The Martha.

Gil Trythall, composer and faculty member at Peabody School of Music, received his Master's degree at Norhtwestern and his Doctorate from Cornell. A native Tennessean, Gil combines his academic background with his feel for the 'Nashville Sound' in his album of country hits. He provides another welcome instance of a serious electronic composer 'doing his thing!' Top Tracks.
