Andy Sheppard/John Parricelli . Andy Sheppard is a curious voice in the British jazz world. From the late eighties until fairly recently, he's barely been out of the spotlight with high profile tours and record releases. However, for me at least, the quality of his music never quite matched all the attention; there were many finer players on the scene but somehow Sheppard went on getting all the work.

Andy Sheppard (born 20 January 1957) is a British jazz saxophonist and composer. He has been awarded several prizes at the British Jazz Awards, and has worked with some notable figures in contemporary jazz, including Gil Evans, Carla Bley, George Russell and Steve Swallow. Sheppard formed his first big band, the Soft on the Inside Band, in 1990 for an album of the same name. The band featured many notable players, including drummer Han Bennick, trumpeter Claude Deppa and trombonist Gary Valente. This band turned into In Co-Motion, which included keyboardist Steve Lodder and bassist Sylvan Richardson, who released an eponymous album in 1991. After this Sheppard signed a deal with Blue Note Records, who issued Rhythm Method in 1993. With John Parricelli. Sphere (Cadillac, 1981).

John Parricelli (born 5 April 1959 in Evesham, Wychavon, Worcestershire, England) is a jazz guitarist who has worked mainly in the United Kingdom. Parricelli began his career as a guitarist in 1982. He was one of the founding members of the British big band Loose Tubes, with whom he recorded three albums.

The understanding between Sheppard and guitarist John Parricelli, and the complementary tonalities, hardly falter, but the ambient mellowness could occasionally use a few more surprises in the turns of the tunes, particularly in a handful of especially low-keys pieces in the middle. The set is pulled between an engagingly gentle Latin-jazz feel and a Jan Garbarek/Terje Rypdal-flavoured north-European minimalism.
