ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION will continue touring as much as possible in 2012 in support of the album, covering Europe and USA/Canada - and hopefully they’ll get to play lots of festivals in the sun. In Spring 2009, Danish sextet, ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION, released their 2nd album, 421 Wythe Avenue and received loads of critical acclaim and attention from blogs and media around the world. Ask Me This is the natural next step in ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION’s evolvement as a band; taking them in a new direction, but it’s still very easy to hear this is an ALCOHOLIC FAITH MISSION record. Alcoholic Faith Mission's fourth studio effort, 2012's Ask Me This, features more of the Brooklyn via Denmark band's experimental, often psychedelic, melodic folk and avant pop. Featuring both male and female vocals set against a bevy of organic and electronic sounds including strings, bells, synths, and various beats, this is sprawling ambient music that splits the difference between the classical influence and avant folk-prog of Dungen and the sparkly dance-inflected indie rock of MGMT and the Flaming Lips.
The Alcoholic Faith Mission puts a lot of faith in limits. There's much faith put into the extents that people stretch themselves, or are forced to stretch. They know exactly how bad things have been before and they know the levels to which they've stooped. There is a delightful juxtaposition of happily ever after and nothing of the sorts on the group's latest album, "Ask Me This. The opening track, "Down From Here," is covered in the lushest of Beach Boys harmonies, circa the "Pet Sounds" era, and still, the sentiment is one of being down in the deepest pit that one's ever been in.
