Roger Kynard "Roky" Erickson (July 15, 1947 – May 31, 2019) was an American musician and singer-songwriter. He was a founding member of the 13th Floor Elevators and a pioneer of the psychedelic rock genre. Born in Dallas, Texas, Erickson was interested in music from his youth, playing piano from age five and taking up guitar at 10. He attended school in Austin and dropped out of Travis High School in 1965, one month before graduating, rather than cut his hair to conform to the school dress code
Roky Erickson spent his rock ‘n roll career facing down dualities: reality and disorientation, lovers and monsters, the sacred and profane. God is a thing that you like, he told Vice in 2010. You think good thoughts, and then you perceive that someone is going to tell you about God. He quickly changed his tune. Satan is the same way. Satan is God and Jesus Christ. He had certainly stared both in the face. In the 1960s, Erickson staked his name as the singer for the 13th Floor Elevators, a Texan psychedelic band that preached gnostic mysticism, entheogenic voyages and the Kingdom of God.

Night of the Vampire Lyrics. Roky Erickson and The Aliens Lyrics provided by SongLyrics.
Roky Erickson & the Aliens – I Think Up Demons. Roky Erickson & The Aliens – Night Of The Vampire. Roky Erickson & the Aliens – The Wind And More. Roky Erickson And The Aliens – Stand For The Fire Demon. Roky Erickson and The Aliens – It s a Cold Night for Alligators. Roky Erickson & The Aliens – Longbranch Saloon, Berkeley, 1/30/76.
Any or all of these characters could be Roky himself, trying to figure out his own reality. The album in question is many things, and high on the list is genius and disturbing. It opens with a pretty hard rocker, Two Headed Dog, which has some dark imagery.
