It was first released in Japan on 12 April 2011 by Universal Music Japan with 12 tracks on SHM-CD and in Europe by Frontiers Records on 15 April 2011 with 11 tracks on a regular CD; the album was released on 3 May 2011 in America. Uriah Heep play to their strengths on Into the Wild, the band's 22nd studio album in 41 years. Despite the group's reputation for personnel changes, its current members have mostly been in place for decades (drummer Russell Gilbrook joined in 2007), and they play like musicians who have been reading each other's minds on-stage during hundreds of shows a year for many years; the disc is full of cohesive musical teamwork, creating a unified sound.

Uriah Heep comes back with another studio album after extremely enjoyable "Wake The Sleeper". While "Into The Wild" isn't as great as I wished it to be, it's still a very solid release which should satisfy all band's fans. Just like preceding album it's clearly rooted in Uriah Heep's glorious past, so you can expect tons of Hammond organ riffs (no other keyboard here!), dazzling guitar solos and usual mix of energetic hard songs and more complex quasi-epic tracks. This is simply Uriah Heep by the numbers. Indeed, the band have not sounded as uninspired and predicable as this since 1991's Different World album - one of the weakest albums ever in the band's vast discography.
