Sweet Surrender" is the first single from Wet Wet Wet's third studio album, Holding Back the River. It was released on 18 September 1989, and reached on the UK singles chart. The single fared extremely well in Ireland, topping the charts for two weeks, and giving the band their second consecutive Irish number one. In Australia, "Sweet Surrender" peaked at on the ARIA singles chart in May 1990, and was certified gold.
