Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, New York. The group was originally formed on 1981 by guitarist and lead vocalist Scott Ian, bassist Dan Lilker and drummer Dave Weiss. A few months later, lead vocalist John Connelly and bassist Paul Kahn joined the band. Lilker then switched to rhythm guitar and Ian switched to lead guitar and backing vocals.
