Gordon Haskell (born 27 April 1946, in Verwood, Dorset, England) is an English musician and songwriter. A pop, rock and blues vocalist, guitarist, and bassist, he was a school friend of King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp, the two first working together in Fripp's mid-1960s teenage group the League of Gentlemen (not to be confused with Fripp's later new wave band). Haskell arrived at the doorstep of the 1980s deeply in debt and dissatisfied with the music business. He left for Denmark in 1984, playing "seven nights a week to drunks in bars. During this time his voice became a lot stronger. - Serve At Room Temperature.

Bass player and vocalist for King Crimson during 1970 who appeared on the "Lizard" album before embarking on a solo career.

Gordon Haskell A minor psychedelic figure whose spotlight moment came on King Crimson's second album: the hushed, luminous "Cadence and Cascade. Haskell appeared as a full-time member on the follow-up, Lizard, then left and released the ignored and poorly titled It Is And It Isn't. Serve at room temperature. The lady wants to know.

Haskell was previously a classmate of Robert Fripp's at Queen Elizabeth's grammar school in Wimborne near Bournemouth, the pair having subsequently played together in the local band The League of Gentlemen. Haskell later contributed vocals to the King Crimson track "Cadence and Cascade" on In the Wake of Poseidon, after Greg Lake left the band to join Emerson, Lake & Palmer. In a desperate turn to maintain a personnel in the band, Fripp asked Haskell to become an official member of King Crimson for the recording of Lizard. Following the album's completion, Haskell left King Crimson during rehearsals for a prospective tour. During the next 19 years, he sought legal redress, because he believed that he had been cheated out of royalties owed to him for the album. Shortly after Haskell left the group, McCulloch did likewise. Gordon Haskell – bass guitar, vocals. Andy McCulloch – drums.

Gordon Haskell Concert Setlists & Tour Dates. Gordon Haskell at The Brook, Southampton, England. Artist: Gordon Haskell, Venue: The Brook, Southampton, England.

Gordon Haskell is usually thought of as a footnote in the history of King Crimson - the only lead singer in the group's long list of personnel who never played a single live date with the band, though he was with them long enough to cut most of an album (Lizard) and get one performance ("Cadence and Cascade". Haskell cut a solo album, It Is and It Isn't, during 1973 (actually the album was recorded circa 1971 but saw the limelight round 1973-74), and worked with such artists as Tim Hardin, Alvin Lee, and Van Morrison. His solo work tends to be in a folk-like, singer/songwriter vein, reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot with something of a progressive rock edge and more humor, some of it very sardonic.
