Maple Hill continues to have an elementary school but the high school closed in 1968 and consolidated with Alma's Wabaunsee High School. Today, the population is about 600, which makes Maple Hill the second largest town in Wabaunsee County. We are fortunate to have a very fine photographer, Sandie Flentie Houk, living in Maple Hill. The white building on the left is the Central Office which was torn down to make way for the Maple Hill Senior Center. All of the other buildings shown were destroyed by one of the four tragic arson fires that destroyed most of Main Street at various times. In 1916, the city council passed a resolution requiring stone or brick buildings on Main Street. According to the Maple Hill News Items, he weighed 1. pounds and was the largest in birth weight of the five living Adams children. Dr. J. M. Kemper was in attendance
