Waiting by the River.

Waiting By The River is the all-new album by Robin Storey that takes the project into previously uncharted territory. Founded in 1992 after Storey left Zoviet France, Rapoon soon became an outstanding ethno-dark ambient project that has gained a cult following all over the world. More than 50 albums have been released over those 25 years, some more beat-driven, others more playful and with ambient sounds and ethnic influences. Rapoon has never stopped evolving – think of Cultural Forgeries, an album full of unplugged acoustic music. Or Downgliding, full of compositions on the piano.

Rapoon biography RAPOON is the solo project of Zoviet France co-founder and Visual Artist Robin Storey. Born in 1955 in Cumbria, England, he took influences from many Krautrock artists of the 70's and from composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen. He would remain a member until 1992. The same year he released the first RAPOON album entitled "Dream Circle". The sound of RAPOON is of an ambient, and somewhat abstract nature, often with ethnic and sometimes rhythmic touches. Rapoon, the brainchild of Zoviet France's Robin Storey, gave new meaning to the fusion of Indian and western music on albums such as Vernal Crossing (1993) and The Kirghiz Light (1995), exalted orgies of samples, loops and mixing that "used" drones and rhythms rather than "playing" drones and rhythms. With Vernal Crossing (Staalplaat, 1993) Storey found a magic balance between percussions and electronics. The Same River Once mixes exuberant Indian dance music and languid galactic drones and Bol Baya propels a distant chant with frantic tabla beats and the crescendo of a majestic ultrasonic wave.
