Doris Day's Sentimental Journey is studio album by American singer Doris Day, released by Columbia Records on July 12, 1965 as a monophonic LP (catalog number CL-2360) and a stereophonic album (catalog number CS-9160). The album gets its title from Doris Day's first big hit, "Sentimental Journey," which she performed as a part of the band Les Brown and His Band of Renown in 1945, and consists mostly of pop standards, principally composed in the 1940s, approximately contemporaneously with that song.

from album: Doris Day's Sentimental Journey (1965). Gonna take a sentimental journey Gonna set my heart at ease Gonna make a sentimental journey To renew old me-emories Got my bag Got my reservation Spent each dime I could afford Like a child In wild anticipation Long to hear that A-all aboard Seven That's the time we leave At seven I'll be waitin' up for Heaven Countin'.

Doris Day (Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff, Cincinnati, Ohio, . April 3, 1922 – May 13, 2019) was an American actress, singer, and animal welfare activist. After she began her career as a big band singer in 1939, her popularity increased with her first hit recording "Sentimental Journey" (1945). After leaving Les Brown & His Band of Renown to embark on a solo career, she recorded more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967, which made her one of the most popular and acclaimed singers of the 20th century.

Probably nobody knew when Columbia Records released Doris Day's Sentimental Journey in 1965 that it would be her last album of new material (not counting The Love Album, which she recorded in 1967 but which went unreleased until 1995). The singer was only in her early forties, after all, and if she hadn't sold many records lately, she remained a big movie star and her record contract had a while to run.
