Short Description:
Gothic-Crossover act Adversus shows its acoustic arrangement side on this Mini-Album

After their successful debut album "Winter, so unsagbar Winter..." and the following concept-album "Einer Nacht Gewesenes" , the german gothic-crossover-band Adversus now offer their fans "Laya", which with its 35 minutes of music and more than 8 minutes videotrack is a mini-album - in comparison to the playing lengths of the regular Adversus albums, that are more than 77:00 minutes!

Unlike the mostly driving, beat-dominated and complexe-opulent combination of metal, classical and electronic elements on the former Adversus albums, "Laya" presents the band‘s calm and slow side with acoustic instruments and folk or classical melodies.

The lyrics have again the same importance than the music. Adversus‘ composer, singer and mastermind Rosendorn uses a very unique grammatical style of german lyrics, combining terms and syntaxes from older times (especially german romantic and medieval poetry) with a modern sounding expression.

The title song "Laya oder die Ballade vom schwarzen Stein" (Laya or the ballad of the black stone) - already known to the group‘s fans from their live-concerts - is a celtic myths inspired gothic-folk-song showing the typical Adversus-style of interacting male and female vocals in its more than 14 minutes of playing time. The song tells the story of a seducing female demon, a succubus named Laya, who is falling in love with her human male victim, thus getting to know the suffering of human existence in her own immortal soul.

In the frame of this poetic-historical context is also the danceable song "Der Wind auf den Feldern" (The wind on the fields, inspired by the traditional song "The wind that shakes the barley"), which is available in a lightly shortened version for promotion purposes and free download spread. With this song, the new female vocalist of Adversus, Aysel, introduces her skilled classic voice on a light electronic dominated arrangement.

These two main tracks on this EP are embedded in Adversus-typical acoustic atmospheres and the orchestral opening track "Verschlungene Pfade" (Winding paths), and they are completed by the classical composition "Kraehen im Gewoelk" (Crows in the clouds). Track 5 is a special acoustic version of Adverus‘ first clubhit "Seelenwinter" (soul‘s winter) from the debut album.

The CD also contains a datatrack with a video-clip, showing a live-performance of Adversus playing the song "Deiner Schoenheit gewahr" (Aware of your beauty) from the album "Einer Nacht Gewesenes".

The video track (MPEG) is a live recording from Goldene Krone, Darmstadt, 27 May 2006.
