Dig yourself, Lazarus Dig yourself, Lazarus Dig yourself, Lazarus Dig yourself, back in that hole. Larry made his nest up in the autumn branches Built from nothing but high hopes and thin air Collected up some baby blasted mothers They took their chances and for a while They lived quite happily up there. He came from New York City man But he couldn't take the pace He thought it was like a dog eat dog world But he went to San Francisco Spent a year in outer space With a sweet little San Franciscan girl.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1983 by vocalist Nick Cave, t Mick Harvey and guitarist Blixa Bargeld.

The title-track opens the album with a typically abstruse religious rumination, Cave considering what poor old Lazarus, the world's first zombie, felt about his situation as he wandered through modern-day America. He never asked to be raised up from the tomb!" protests Cave.

Lazarus Dig!!! This is the 14th album by Nick Cave and company. After the masterpiece that was Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus in 2004, Cave and Warren Ellis scored a pair of films - The Proposition and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and recorded the self-titled Grinderman album with other bandmembers Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos. Grinderman was a howling, raucous, rock & roll racket of a set that sweat humorous garage rock blues and raw shambolic guttersnipe stroll that spread its nasty cheer to the listener

Recently, Nick Cave embarked on a round of interviews to promote his 14th studio album with the Bad Seeds. He then turned his attentions to his 1997 album The Boatman's Call, his beautiful, anguished eulogy for a failed relationship with fellow singer-songwriter Polly Harvey. Lazarus Dig!!! There are a couple of beautiful ballads on offer, notably Jesus of the Moon, but its default setting is churning garage rock, two- or three-note riffs, scourging bursts of feedback in place of guitar licks and Sister Ray-ish organ solos. The closing More News from Nowhere seems like a more genteel relation of Grinderman's No Pussy Blues.

Watch out, here comes the fourteenth Bad Seeds album. The garage sound is still there, the deep baritone is still there, the sideburns are still there, but what's new is a pyschedelic, farfisa-driven swirl as well as a more stable, traditional rock feel. As a child, Cave claims to have be traumatized by the tale of Lazarus. but I couldn't help but wonder how Lazarus felt about it,'' the black-haired one says
