Graf Orlock is an American hardcore punk band formed in 2003 in Los Angeles, California. They are named after Count Orlok from the 1922 film Nosferatu. The band consists of members of the hardcore punk bands Greyskull, Arctic Choke, Dangers and Ghostlimb, and employs audio snippets and script dialogue from action films such as The Terminator, Aliens and RoboCop in all their songs, which has led to the band being jokingly described as "cinema-grind

Album · 2011 · 6 Songs. Graf Orlock/Cobraside. See All. Los Angeles - EP.

It's pretty safe to say that Graf Orlock has monopolized the "cinema-grind" genre. In its seven-plus years of existence, Graf Orlock has become known for its incorporation of movie clips into its stellar brand of grindcore, and "Doombox" is no excpetion.

Doombox is an EP by Graf Orlock. It was released by Vitriol Records on January 18, 2011. It was released as a 10" record, pressed on black (limited to 150) and clear (limited to 1350). The record came with a foldout boom-box replica, and a CD with all six songs plus the Destination Time trilogy songs. Doombox was generally well received by critics

Graf Orlock aren’t the first band to sound like this; in fact, I’d argue that, on paper, (blank)core with grindy parts and samples is right up there with At the Gates riffs and breakdowns in terms of shit that’s tired out. But not a lot of bands pull it off quite like this. The samples are a part of a greater collage instead of arbitrarily slapped on there for badass or LOL purposes. In fact, the mere acknowledgment of a greater collage instead of an excuse to punch your friends at a VFW puts Graf Orlock leaps and bounds ahead of their contemporaries. So go ahead, call the EP overrated.
