Survivor's official music video for 'Eye Of The Tiger'. Rising up, back on the street Did my time, took my chances Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet Just a man and his will to survive. So many times it happens too fast You trade your passion for glory Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past You must fight just to keep them alive. It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the fight Rising up to the challenge of our rival And the last known survivor Stalks his prey in the night And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger".

Eye of the Tiger is the most well-known song by Survivor, that upon release in 1982, held N. on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks. Written by guitarist Frankie Sullivan and keyboardist Jim Peterik, the lyrics describe someone training hard to overcome hardships – fitting well its original intention, on the training montage of Rocky III. It has since become an anthem of sports events, particularly fighting ones, and is tied with Gonna Fly Now for Rocky Balboa’s theme song.

As the members of Survivor began preparations for their third album, they knew they still had a lot to prove. Thanks to some unexpected interest from Sylvester Stallone, their career was about to change in a big way. The band's chief songwriters - keyboardist and guitarist Jim Peterik and guitarist Frankie Sullivan - agree they were at a crucial crossroads at the time. He could turn in a speaker-shredding vocal on one song and then deliver a tender knockout punch on a ballad like Ever Since the World Began/. He could pretty much do a whole take, Peterik says. Eye of the Tiger,’ the demo, he sang that in one take, maybe two. But when he was trying to, what we call, chase the demo, that took a long time. It was just because you have that initial rush of enthusiasm when you’re doing the demo and then you have to recreate the excitement
