Description

This is a truly legendary album by a band that is best know for being the first band of Marc Bolan.

Orgasm is John's Children's sole studio album, projected for release on 18 March 1967, and eventually released in September 1970. It was recorded (before Marc Bolan joined the band) at Advison Studios in London, England.

Orgasm ‎(CDr, Album, Unofficial). He also smothered crowd sounds all over this LP, presented it as a live LP and called it Orgasm, thereby ensuring nobody was going to release it at the time, and nobody bought it when it did dribble out in 1970 in the USA and Australia, for some reason. But John's Children had attitude and talent and despite this LPs very obvious faults, I love it. Yes, some of their tunes are borrowed and they weren't exactly virtuosos on their instruments, but they made a fine punky psychy mod racket and all these tracks are pretty good on some level

If SNB hadn't been involved, it's possible John's Children would have fared much better and not now be so unfairly dismissed as a talentless SNB puppet project. Due for release in March 1967, before Bolan joined, this LP gets all sorts of hate and derision. Simon Napier-Bell not only ensured everyone assumed the band were crap, but he also sabotaged their career with some terrible gimmicks and press stunts. I mean "The worlds first anti-lust group" may make a good headline for the Daily Mail, but wasn't going to endear them to the kids or to the psychedelic crowd. He made sure they were regarded as a joke at the time, and their reputation has never recovered. Yes, some of their tunes are borrowed and they weren't exactly virtuosos on their instruments, but they made a fine punky psychy mod racket and all these tracks are pretty good on some level. The crowd screams when heard as added sound effects, become a little like the Elevators jug, an integral part of the overall sound. I also love all their 45s, despite the presence of Marc Bolan on some of them. Andy Ellison's 3 solo 45s are also brilliant. If SNB hadn't been involved, it's possible John's Children would have fared much better and not now be so unfairly dismissed as a talentless SNB puppet project.
