Andy Partridge has always had an affection for the music of the late 1960s, so when it came to making initial recordings in his upgraded studio he turned to favourites from that era, specifically, Syd Barrett’s Apples & Oranges and The Bonzo Dog Band’s Humanoid Boogie.

Andy Partridge was born December 11, 1953 on the island of Malta and raised in Swindon, England. In 1976, he teamed with bassist Colin Moulding and drummer Terry Chambers to form Star Park, later re-christened the Helium Kidz; upon adding keyboardist Barry Andrews and signing to Virgin Records, the group adopted the name XTC, issuing its debut 3D EP in the fall of 1977. Tarantula in 2008, Partridge and Hitchcock revealed they were working on an album together with Mike Keneally, but Hitchcock's busy touring schedule sidelined the project.

Andy Partridge (born Andrew John Partridge, on November 11, 1953, in Valletta, Malta) is a founding member, guitarist and chief songwriter of the new wave group XTC. He lives in Swindon, Wiltshire, where he was raised. As XTC gained popularity, they had been on tour for the bulk of a five-year period ending in 1982 when Partridge, suffering from stress-related illnesses reportedly brought about by his wife throwing out his supply of valium, forced the band to stop touring.
