Louie Louie" was originally a song written by Richard Berry in 1955, a time during which the R&B genre was still new. He recorded the song with his group The Pharaohs and released it in 1957. Of particular importance is the version sung by The Kingsmen. The band recorded the song as their second recording, which was released on 6th April 1963

Louie Louie, oh no, me gotta go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby Louie Louie, oh baby, me gotta go OK, let's give it to 'em right now. Me see. Me see Jamaica, the moon above It won't be long me see me love Me take her in my arms and then I tell her I'll never leave again. Louie Louie, oh no, me gotta go, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby Louie Louie, oh baby, me gotta go I said me gotta go now Let's hustle on out of here Let's go! More on Genius. Louie Louie began life as a 1955 Richard Berry song, an imitation Jamaican sea shanty set to a rock ‘n’ roll beat. The mushmouthed sound of The Kingsmen’s cover version came about largely by accident. As the New York Times reported after the death of frontman Jack Ely in 2015: Jack Ely would later insist that as a 19-year-old singing Louie Louie in one take in a Portland, Or. studio in 1963, he had followed the original lyrics faithfully.

This song is by The Kingsmen and appear. n the album The Kingsmen In Person (1963). on the compilation Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968 (1972). on the compilation Nuggets, Vol. 8: The Northwest (1985). Louie Louie" is an American rock 'n' roll song written by Richard Berry in 1955. It has become a standard in pop and rock, with hundreds of versions recorded by different artists. The song is written in the style of a Jamaican ballad; and tells, in simple verse-chorus form, the first-person story of a Jamaican sailor returning to the island to see his lady love. The singer brags of his "fine little girl" to the Louie of the title, presumably a bartender. A version by The Kingsmen recorded in 1963 is the best-known recording.

Louie, Louie, oh, me gotta go Louie, Louie, me gotta go. Three nights and days me sail the sea Me think of girl constantly On the ship I dream she there I smell the rose in her hair. Louie, Louie, me gotta go Louie, Louie, me gotta go. Me see Jamaica moon above It won't be long, me see my love Me take her in my arms and then I tell her I never leave again.
