Illmatic is unquestionably Nasty Nas' best album. Not It Was Written, Stillmatic, nor God's Son. Nas released this album at the age of 21. It featured production from the legendary DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, and . The album starts off with a short intro called "The Genesis". I remember seeing this video on TV back when BET used to play good music. Illmatic is a true classic and a must have for any hip-hop fan. Even if you don't like Nas you should have this album. There are only a few shortcomings on the LP. It's on the short side, only about 40 minutes total.
The first disk in the deluxe 10 Year Anniversary Illmatic Platinum Series contains a newly-remastered version of the original Illmatic, in its entirety. The second disk features new explicit remixes of four of Illmatic's choicest cuts - "Life's A Bitch" (produced by Rockwilder), "The World Is Yours" (produced by Vibesmen), "One Love" (produced by Nick "FURY"), and "It Ain't Hard To Tell" (produced by Nick "FURY") - as well as explicit album versions . The week of its release in April 1994, Illmatic debuted at on the Billboard 200 best-selling album chart and generated the hit singles "It Ain't Hard To Tell," "One Love," and "The World Is Yours," establishing a pattern for success that would continue unabated for a decade.
