Duran Duran is the debut studio album by English new wave band Duran Duran. It was released on 15 June 1981 by EMI. The album reached number three on the UK Albums Chart and remained in the UK top 100 for 118 weeks, achieving platinum status by December 1982. The initial US release was unsuccessful, though the album was reissued there in 1983 following the success of the band's second album, Rio, reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200, and spent 87 weeks on that chart.

Girls on Film" is the third single by Duran Duran, released on 13 July 1981. The single became Duran Duran's Top 10 breakthrough in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at Number 5 in July 1981. The band personally selected the song for release following the failure of its predecessor, "Careless Memories", which had been chosen by their record company, EMI. Its popularity provided a major boost to sales of the band's eponymous debut album, Duran Duran, which had been released a month earlier.

This is a collection of remixes of Duran Duran's 1981 single "Girls on Film" produced by Colin Thurston, but each recording sounds like a new song. Released to promote the Greatest compilation album, the mixes also feature on promotional-only 12" vinyl singles in the UK and the USA.
