Tom Harrell (born June 16, 1946) is a renowned American post bop jazz trumpeter and composer. However he has a disability which profoundly affects his life away from the stage. He suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. On stage he stands away from the microphone, off to the side, his head bowed and his hands clutching his trumpet. When called upon to play, he walks slowly to the microphone, head still lowered, raising it only to play. When finished, he bows his head and resumes his original place.

Away from the Sun is the second studio album recorded by American rock band 3 Doors Down, It was released by Universal Records on November 12, 2002 (see 2002 in music). The singles released for the album were as follows: "When I'm Gone", "The Road I'm On", "Here Without You", and "Away from the Sun". The recording sessions took place during the summer of 2002 with Producer/Engineer Rick Parashar at London Bridge Studio, in Seattle, Washington.

The album Moving Picture represents a recent change for award-winning and Grammy-nominated jazz trumpeter Tom Harrell from a slew of quintet albums, the elaborate instrumentation of the 'jazz & classical' First Impressions album, and the two-trumpet album, Something Gold, Something Blue" which included another trumpet ace, Ambrose Akinmusire. Here the globe-trotting composer, arranger, and brass artist Tom Harrell goes back to the basic trumpet and rhythm section quartet format with Harrell on trumpet and flugelhorn. The ‘best of the best' kicks off with the title song "Moving Picture": a swirling, uptempo swinger with intense and inventive solos by Harrell and Grissett, pushed along relentlessly by Cruz’s slashing drums (who also serves up an emphatic solo) and by Okegwo’s pulsating bass line.

Each track of Sail Away unfolds like an impressionistic canvas, bursting with color and light, with every brush stroke working toward the sum total of the painting. Modern jazz fans looking for music that's grounded - but never imprisoned - by yesteryear will want to pick up a copy.
