Description

On Miguel's sophomore album, the contemporary R&B singer reinvents his image and sound to create a futuristic fusion with elements of rock, synth pop, and funk. Hopefully, the production on his next record reaches the fine-tuned ambition of his singing and songwriting

Kaleidoscope Dream is a gem of an album, respectful of tradition, quietly ambitious, and deeply personal. Miguel's 2010 debut album, All I Want Is You, was flanked with some stellar singles but weighed down by a lack of identity as he flitted from producer to producer. It sounded like he couldn't decide whether he wanted to be a Salaam Remi faux-nostalgia crooner or a smart hip-hop crossover star, and the indecision hung over the record like a cloud (it didn't perform well commercially either).

Wildheart is the third studio album by American R&B singer and songwriter Miguel. It was released on June 29, 2015, by RCA Records and ByStorm Entertainment. The album was produced by Miguel with Benny Cassette, Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco, and Salaam Remi, among others.

Miguel's second album is drenched in his honeyed, echoing voice. A relentless seducer, Miguel implores the listener to "Use Me"; "I can teach you," he promises seductively " sound terrific, especially when contrasted with his debut, All I Want Is You, which had a brighter, if equally sex-obsessed, tone.

I absolutely hate the cover of this album, so much so that I put off listening to it when it was first critically lauded. Then, Pitchfork implored their faithful readers to pick it up, furthering my skepticism. It was that little bit of pathos that put me over the edge, and I finally checked out Kaleidoscope Dream

Before I get into this absolutely lovely new Miguel album, I’d like to say a quick word about the Mountain Goats. It takes months, maybe years, for them to fully sink in and become a part of my headspace

Sounds better than I expected, honestly. Not bad, just some noise at the beginning of Do You... (one of my favorite tracks). The whole album sounds a bit low.
