Time couldn’t taint the most soulful sound of Clyde McPhatter, back in the . after three years of polishing his already high-gloss, gifts in England. The Lover’s Question man, provides new answers with Book of Memories, Anyone Can Tell and The Time Can Bind, as his memorable voice seems to intuitively grasp the lyric mood, the changes and the new depth of Soul today. Clyde McPhatter was one of the great lead R&B singers of the 1950s. His emotive high tenor voice led his vocal group, The Drifters, to tremendous popularity. Despite Ward’s heavy-handed dominance of the group’s billing and finance, McPhatter sang with the Dominoes for three years, fueling such further hits as The Bells, These Foolish Things Remind Me of You and Have Mercy Baby while sustaining a vigorous live performing schedule.

by Clyde McPhatter and The Merry Melody Singers. Little Bitty Pretty One (Single Version) by Clyde McPhatter and The Merry Melody Singers. This version is 2 minuets and 15 seconds long. Clyde recorded another "Bless You" (with the subtitle "For Being An Angel") for his 1959 LP " Let's Start Over Again," which is a completely different song than the single version. While his Mercury & MGM output never equalled his Atlantic recordings, there are a number of nice soul ballads & of course, his last Top 10 hit, Lover Please. For the collector, a nice addition of R & B to augment any 60's music lover's collection, by an underappreciated artist, in my opinion !
