Thurl Ravenscroft’s name may not be familiar to Disney fans, his voice is. Probably best known to TV audiences as the voice of Kellogg’s Tony the Tiger. The Walt Disney Studios often hired Thurl and his quartet to sing in its animated films, including Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella, and television programs, including Cavalcade of Songs and The Legend of Elfego Baca. Other classic Disney films that Thurl lent his voice to include One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon, and The Fox and the Hound

Thurl Ravenscroft was also an accomplished vocalist on his own. His cover of Mr. Bass Man (with the Andrews Sisters) and his album Great Hymns in Story and Song provide a pair of perfect examples of the many records produced. Spike Jones and his City Slickers (the Weird Al of big band music) featured Ravenscroft in his Halloween hit I Was Teen Age Brain Surgeon. Another notable role included several songs the Rankin-Bass animated production of The Hobbit

Disney didn't do anything big for this release, so don't expect any restorations of the film, the scratches from the 1987 run are still there. It's worth noting that this wasn't really a Disney film since it wasn't done using all Disney animators, but it wound up having a ton of people both from Cal Arts and Disney, and some of the people who worked on this film actually started Pixar. It's a great film, and after the first 10 minute you're going to love it.

Ravenscroft did some voice-over work and singing for Disney in both the films and the attractions at Disneyland (which were later featured at Walt Disney World). The best known of these attractions are The Haunted Mansion, Country Bear Jamboree, The Mark Twain Riverboat, Pirates of the Caribbean, Disneyland Railroad, and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room His voice is heard during the Pirates of the Caribbean ride as well as the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland as Uncle Theodore, the lead vocalist of the singing busts in the cemetery near the end of the ride. He also played the Narrator in The Story and Song From the Haunted Mansion.
