Information on Dilly Dally. Alternative Rock, Noise Pop, Indie Rock, Genres.

Dilly Dally’s explicit, brutalist sound doesn’t stray far from the indie-punk template, but its moody determination make it a winner. In an age of Femfresh and facial contouring, Dilly Dally fly the flag for the unvarnished female; propelled by an animalistic hornineness, stomach-rumbling hunger and the moody determination of bratty punk rock. Founded by Toronto-based Katie Monks and Liz Ball, the group’s debut has an explicit, brutalist sound: bludgeoning bass, gnarly guitars and red-raw vocals – like the Pixies with PMT, or perhaps mid-flow, if you’re to take Snake Head literally: Snakes are coming out of my head, And there’s blood between my legs ).

Produced by Leon Taheny & Josh Korody. I'm comin' at you from against the world, I get desire Charlie saw me after school and then I get desire Inside her It's calling on me lately Desire. Dilly Dally are an alt-rock four-piece from Toronto. Childhood friends Katie Monks (lead vocals,. rhythm guitar) and Liz Ball (lead guitar) founded the band in 2009. After several line-up changes, bassist Jimmy Rowlinson and drummer Benjamin Reinhartz completed the group.

Dilly Dally knows that desperation can make you feel powerful if you play it right, and for the most part Sore translates rattled nerves into fiery riffs and sharp hooks. Snakes are coming out of my head/ And there’s blood between my legs, Monks sings between gritted teeth on Snake Head, a towering menstrual Medusa who doesn’t give a shit if she grosses you out. She owns her own viscera; she’ll spill her guts for everyone to see with no hesitation, no shame

However, it sounds glorious, and is a real highlight of the album, along with opening track Desire, which while being the biggest Pixies imitation, is arguably the catchiest and best written song on the album. As many bands do on their debut albums, Dilly Dally end up sounding the same after track 6, with the tracks following it generally decreasing in quality and originality, only to be redeemed by a closer that isn’t typical of what has come before
