Ludwig van Beethoven (/ˈlʊdvɪɡ væn ˈbeɪt(h)oʊvən/ (listen); German: (listen); baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer and pianist. A crucial figure in the transition between the classical and romantic eras in classical music, he remains one of the most recognized and influential musicians of this period, and is considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time.
Beethoven did much to enlarge the possibilities of music and widen the horizons of later generations of composers. To his contemporaries he was sometimes a controversial figure, making heavy demands on listeners both by the length and by the complexity of his writing, as he explored new fields of music.

Ludwig van Beethoven was born into a musical family in Bonn. Although there is no record about it, most scholars accept 16 December 1770 as his date of birth; one reason being that, his family as well as his teacher, Johann Albrechtsberger, always celebrated his birthday on this day. The church records at the parish of St. Regius also show that Ludwig van Beethoven was baptized on 17 December, 1770. Since children at that time were baptized a day after their birth, it corroborates the assumption that he was born on 16 December 1770

If it were in modern sound quality, it would simply have to be in just about everyone's top three. As it is, the sound is a disadvantage, but you can still hear the greatness coming through the murky shroud of 1942 live symphonic concert recording technology. Second, this is not the infamous "Hitler's birthday" performance
Beethoven - after winning custody of Karl - forbade him to see his mother. The boy frequently disobeyed him, running away to be with her. On one occasion Beethoven called the police to have him forcibly returned. Beethoven placed Karl in a series of schools, most notably Giannatasio del Rio's and Joseph Blöchlinger's. Karl van Beethoven left the army in 1832, marrying Caroline Naske in the same year. They had four daughters and a son, whom they named Ludwig. Karl briefly tried his hand at managing property, but was able to live comfortably as a private citizen on his inheritance from his uncles. He died at the age of 52 from liver disease.
