Patti LaBelle is the debut solo album by singer Patti LaBelle, released in 1977. The first album LaBelle recorded after sixteen years fronting the band Labelle (formerly Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles), it is notable for the dance hit, "Joy to Have Your Love", the classic gospel-inspiring ballad, "You Are My Friend" and the Angelo "Funky Knuckles" Nocentelli mid-tempo number, "I Think About You". Patti is the seventh album released by recording artist Patti LaBelle, released in July 1985. After seven years of modest success, Patti LaBelle finally became a mainstream solo star following the late 1983 release of the album, I'm in Love Again, and its hit singles, "If Only You Knew" and "Love, Need and Want You" and the 1984 soundtrack singles "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up", the latter two were featured on the soundtrack to the Eddie. Murphy film, Beverly Hills Cop, and launched LaBelle into pop stardom.
