He won over the hostile prisoners with definitive versions of his blues standards and his crossover hit The Thrill Is Gone. Built around the proto power ballad Beth, this is a ridiculously over-the-top party-rock album that just gets better with age. Listen here. Prine sang about smoking dope ("Illegal Smile"), but his empathy for the old folks with "Hello in There" made most hippie songwriters sound smug.

The Angels is the first album by Australian hard rock band, The Angels, which was released in August 1977. It was produced by Vanda & Young (The Easybeats) at Sydney's Albert Studios. It included a re-recorded version of their debut single, "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" (March 1976) and provided their second single, "You're a Lady Now", in July 1977. By the mid-1980s "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" had developed a cult status with the audience responding with "No way, get fucked, fuck off!".

fun fact for ya folks: when wearing a heel that PROPERLY fits your foot, it’s really difficult for them to pulled off/stuck in mud (and this is coming from a girl who had to walk across a muddy golf course in stilettos to get to her prom)! the heels would get all muddy and scuffed and you’d definitely sink into. the mud but that’s it. in short RUNNING IN HIGH HEELS ISN’T UNREALISTIC YES PLEASE KNOW THIS I WILL EVEN POST A VIDEO OF ME RUNNING IN MY 5 INCH HEELS IN THE SAME TERRAIN TO PROVE THIS TO YALL.

The Top 100 albums released between January 2000 and December 2009, as voted for by NME staff (past and present) plus a selection of musicians and industry figures that included Arctic Monkeys, Carl Barat, The Killers, Jarvis Cocker, Pete Doherty, Elbow, Johnny Marr, MGMT, Ian Brown, The Big Pink, Snoop Dogg, Alan McGee, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Michael Eavis and many, many more (see. the full jury in NME magazine). This is it, folks, the holy grail of music geeks: The Beach Boys’ lost masterpiece ‘Smile’. Or at least, it almost is. 70 Glasvegas. Its stern facades keep watch over the inner sleeve, and the inhabitants’ troubled spirits pass like a shiver through the album’s darker tracks.

All of that and more makes up our Top 50 albums of the year. Courtney Barnett's debut album has the kind of weary worldview usually associated with an artist's later efforts. Over the last 15 years, Sufjan Stevens has employed a particular sort of overflowing aesthetic maximalism to stave off that empty feeling. His songs are often marked by melancholy, but then strings, horns, blips, and banjo enter, and we’re swept away, saved from the bottomless pit below. On Carrie & Lowell, though, he forces himself-and his listeners-to face the brink with a stripped sound.

This is the third time Swift has claimed the year’s top-selling album. She did it previously with her last studio effort, 1989 (2014’s best seller, with . 6 million sold that calendar year), and Fearless (2009’s leader, with . 2 million sold that year). 1989 and Fearless have sold a total of . 1 million and . 3 million copies, respectively, since their release. Notably, in the last nine years (2009 through 2017), seven of the year-end best-sellers have been an album by either Swift or Adele. The last time the year-end top 10 housed three soundtracks was in 1998, when Titanic topped the list (. 4 million), followed by City of Angels (No. 6 with . 2 million) and Armageddon (No. 10; . 2 million). Top 10 selling albums of 2017 in .
