Pasión Gitana' marked the beginning of Cortés' recognition for not only his prowess as a dancer, but also as a choreographer and artistic director. In 1999 Cortés was the subject of a documentary film and he launched a successful tour of 'Soul' across North and South America.

The same Pasión Gitana (Gypsy Passion) that triumphed on international stages, the show that Cortés dedicated to his grandfather. Cortes’ work in Pasion Gitana transformed him from a professional dancer to a complete enigma as a choreographer and artistic director. Giorgio Armani was the costume director of the show. The two artists worked well together and the tour reached 40 countries during its four years. The album debut led him to become the second Spanish artist to release a worldwide album. Though he continues to dance on stage, in film, and on television he has taken a step back to guide others toward pursuing their passions in the art of dance. He also encourages dancers of all ages to embrace and explore their creativity.
