1996's 40 Chansons D'or is a two-disc collection that brings together recordings of 40 of Aznavour's most enduring songs, including "Apres L'amour," "J'en Deduis Que Je T'aime," "Bon Anniversaire," and many more. Track Listing - Disc 1. Sample.

A chanson is in general any lyric-driven French song, usually polyphonic and secular. A singer specializing in chansons is known as a "chanteur" (male) or "chanteuse" (female); a collection of chansons, especially from the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, is also known as a chansonnier. The earliest chansons were the epic poems performed to simple monophonic melodies by a professional class of jongleurs or ménestrels.

Guy Béart – L’eau vive. I’ve given thousands of concerts, signed mountains of autographs, produced television programmes and known the society world. That said, I am a profoundly solitary person. He recorded his first album in 1957, and the following year the Academy of French Records awarded him its Grand Prix. But his biggest success came with title soundtrack of François Villiers’ film L’Eau Vive (Girl and the River, 1958), a song regarded as a classic example of French chanson.
