Telepathic Surgery is the third studio album by The Flaming Lips, released in 1989 (see 1989 in music). Telepathic Surgery began life as a concept album; the band initially set out to create a 30-minute sound collage. The plan was later scrapped; however, the remnants of this original idea are evident within the album's loose, meandering structure and the epic "Hell's Angel's Cracker Factory". The album is named after a line from the Flaming Lips song "Chrome Plated Suicide".

A two-disc set of Flaming Lips recordings from 1989 to 1991, reissues the complete In a Priest Driven Ambulance and adds (in effect) 23 bonus tracks - comprising B-sides (from the singles 'Drug Machine' and 'Unconsciously Screamin') plus a collection of four-track demos often bootlegged as The Mushroom Tapes. Of the extra material, the B-sides are best, especially a pair of covers - one of the Sonics' sullen garage nugget 'Strychnine' and the other of Elvis Costello's '(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding

The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg (subtitled The Priest Driven Ambulance Album, Demos, and Outtakes, 1989-1991) is a 2xCD compilation of material by The Flaming Lips released by Restless Records in late 2002. It is the second of two reissues compiling the band's work with the record label, and follows Finally the Punk Rockers Are Taking Acid  . The compilation is named after a line from the Flaming Lips song "Five Stop Mother Superior Rain". It also includes new liner notes from band frontman Wayne Coyne.
