Produced by John McClure. Album America, The Dream Goes On. America, The Dream Goes On Lyrics. America, America, and the dream goes on! America, America, and the dream goes on! There's a song in the dust of a county road On the wind it comes to call And it sings in the farms and the factory towns Where you think there'd be no song at all. And the words are the words that our fathers heard As they whistled down the years And the name of the song is the name of the dream And it's music to our ears

James Edward Ingram (February 16, 1952 – January 29, 2019) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist. He was a two-time Grammy Award-winner and a two-time Academy Award nominee for Best Original Song. Since beginning his career in 1973, Ingram had charted eight Top 40 hits on the . Billboard Hot 100 chart from the early 1980s until the early 1990s, as well as thirteen top 40 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

James Ingram racked up a number of adult contemporary-styled R&B pop hits in the 1980s, many of them duets, and the bulk of those hits are collected on this 12-track 1991 compilation. His music may at times seem somewhat melodramatic, registering on the pop spectrum somewhere between Michael Bolton and Billy Ocean, but nonetheless exemplifies top-notch 1980s adult contemporary pop production at its zenith. A few rarities make an appearance, including "Where Did My Heart Go?" from the film City Slickers, and the BET theme "Remember the Dream. To round out the collection are his solo hits, among them the Grammy-winning "Just Once," "One Hundred Ways," and his only solo chart-topper, "I Don't Have the Heart.

The Akron, Ohio, native went from playing local bars with Revelation Funk to Los Angeles, where he landed the types of gigs that most aspiring musicians only dream about: singing background vocals and playing piano for Ray Charles’ recording studio sessions; recording studio sessions and playing keyboards behind the Coasters for Dick Clark; and providing musical direction for Leon Haywood, who produced Carl. After this stunning debut, Ingram’s much-anticipated 1983 solo album, It’s Your Night, surpassed industry expectations. The album was the debut for the Michael McDonald collaboration Yah Mo Be There, (Ingram’s 2nd Grammy) which was honored with the Grammy for Best R&B Performance for a Group or Duo, and There’s No Easy Way was considered one of the year’s stand-out ballads.

James Ingram, whose voice - technically precise, crisp and reserved, yet full of audacious feeling - made him one of the defining singers of R&B in the 1980s, has died. He was 66. The actress and choreographer Debbie Allen, a frequent collaborator with Mr. Ingram on musical theater projects, announced his death on Twitter on Tuesday, calling him her dearest friend and creative partner. She did not say where or when he died or specify the cause. Just as R&B’s quiet storm phase was peaking, Mr. Ingram was plucked from side-gig obscurity by the producer Quincy Jones to appear on his.

I want you always Ooh ooh ooh I want you always I want you always. People tell me you're not serious It doesn't matter i love you anyway Girl in my world there's just the two of us You'll find it's hard to see that you're a part of me. And i want you always I can't remember loving Anyone like this Honey you're the best thing Always I can't remember loving Anyone like this Honey you're the best thing You're the best thing You're the best thing  . US R&B singer and songwriter James Ingram has died in Los Angeles at the age of 66. He also co-wrote Michael Jackson's PYT with Quincy Jones. He performed vocals on Quincy Jones' 1981 album The Dude and won the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance Grammy for the song One Hundred Ways the following year, when he was also nominated for Best New Artist.
