From a Compound Eye is a Robert Pollard CD and double LP released in 2006. Though Pollard had already released several albums under his own name, this album, being the first released after the 2004 dissolution of his longtime vehicle Guided by Voices, was considered to be the official commencement of his solo career. For the album, Pollard drew on his backlog of unreleased material, as well as newly composed songs .

Packed with 26 stylistically and lyrically sprawling songs, it's difficult to excavate any simple proclamations from FaCE's considerable girth. The record's fidelity falls into the mid-fi range of early and late GBV: clean and balanced one minute, needle-in-the-red the next. Cumbersome as it may be, From a Compound Eye launches a new journey for indie-rock's pre-eminent song-dispenser, an early indication that Pollard has directed his prolific flow inward.

Fiction Man is an album by Robert Pollard, released in 2004. The songs recorded for this album were written during the same time as the material for Guided by Voices' 2003 release Earthquake Glue. Producer Todd Tobias plays almost every instrument on the album. This album marks a producing relationship between Pollard and Todd Tobias that would continue with Robert's future solo albums, including From a Compound Eye, Normal Happiness and others.

He has since recorded thousands of songs, revealing a lyrical and melodic gift that renders most indie rock irrelevant.
