Starr Struck: Best of Ringo Starr, Vol. 2 is Ringo Starr's second official compilation album, released on Rhino. The successor to 1975's Blast from Your Past, it rounds up Starr's highlights from 1976's Ringo's Rotogravure to 1983's Old Wave and encompasses label stays with Polydor, Atlantic, Portrait, and RCA. Consequently, it saw the first release of four tracks from Old Wave which had not been issued in the .

A Dose of Rock 'N' Roll" and "Wrack My Brain" were Top 40 singles, and the album contained specially written songs by Ringo's Beatle colleagues. The album also marked the first . release for four songs from Ringo's 1983 album Old Wave. The result was a good substitute for five Ringo albums that were out of print when it was released, but no match for the hit-filled Blast From Your Past.

Ringo Starr: Starr Struck: The Best of Ringo Starr, Vol. 2 I played this in the spirit of one more once, just in case I'd missed something-for instance, the Joe Walsh-produced Old Wave, released 1983 Canada-only, how sad. But whatever his charms as an ex-Beatle, he's been El Lay for most of his adult life, and even on rock and roll ditties drummed up by ex-Beatles George Harrison and Paul McCartney (not exactly surefire hitmakers, I know, though John Lennon's isn't much better), his dogged directness can't cut it. Better than Telly.

Ringo Starr released the song as a single, backed with Lady Gaye, from his Ringos Rotogravure album, on 22 November 1976 in the US and he had also sampled it in his previous chart hit, A Dose of Rock n Roll. Juice Newton covered the song on her 1978 album Well Kept Secret, bobby G. Rice released a cover version in 1970, which reached number 35 on the country music charts.
