Daughters is the self-titled, third studio album by Daughters. It was released on March 9, 2010, through Hydra Head Records, and since the band had gone through a break-up prior to the release of the album, was meant to be the band’s swansong. I have mixed feelings about it. It’s sad that the band fell apart as this record was being released because I do believe it was a sort of coming of age recording, but that it was only a peek at what was to come. Writing this album felt like a dusting of cobwebs for me and as though we were stepping into a territory that was fresh and exciting for our band; at least that was my goal when i made i.

This isn't technically Daughters' final album, but after recording, half the band quit, and whatever the remaining members (vocalist Alexis Marshall and drummer Jonathan Syverson) come up with in the future probably won't sound much like this. In a February 2010 interview with Noisecreep.

Recording for Daughters' third album began in late April, 2009, and the tracking process was finished by June. However, in August, Daughters had abruptly broken up. After finishing recording for the album Sadler stated he and Marshall got in an argument, resulting in Marshall leaving the band Members of the band have mixed feeling.

Before Daughters released their self-titled album, there weren’t many intricacies to argue about between Hell Songs and Canada Songs. Aside from their continuation of spastic riffs, their entire approach was reformulated from Canada to Hell; as Alexis Marshall transformed his vocals from coarse blurts to an elegantly drunk Danzig/Elvis hybrid in addition to realizing what it takes to write songs with some meaningful substance and progressions. So there it was, everything left on the table to judge where Daughters went right and wrong without much of a second thought. But now, Daughters fucked.
