Description

Bill Payne is best known as the keyboard/piano player in the group "Little Feat". In "Little Feat" he contributed with some very solid works - for instance "Time Loves a Hero" and "Gringo"  . If you are already familiar with names like "Keith Jarrett", and "Chick Corea" you should definitely give this album a chance. A highly recommended record.

Bill Payne (born March 12, 1949) is an American pianist who, with Lowell George, co-founded the American rock band Little Feat. He is considered by many other rock pianists, including Elton John, to be one of the finest American piano rock and blues musicians. In addition to his trademark barrelhouse blues piano, he is noted for his work on the Hammond B3 organ. In August 2015, Payne was selected to play keyboards for The Doobie Brothers after their keyboardist Guy Allison was called to work on an album project in Japan. In the few weeks of touring with the Doobies, he was featured with the band and Michael McDonald on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Payne's temporary term ended in early September after the Doobies' concert at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.

El Cielo is the second album from the American ive rock rock band, dredg. It was released on October 8, 2002 on Interscope Records. Like dredg's first album, Leitmotif, El Cielo is a concept album. The title can be translated to mean "the sky" or "the heaven" in Spanish, and to mean "peace and freedom of expression" in dreams

Keyboardist Bill Payne came up with the idea of a CD that included many things, but featured major Little Feat hit songs as played by a band that included Feat and some very special friends. When you have friends like Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews, Emmylou Harris, Bob Seger, Bela Fleck, Brooks and Dunn, Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), Vince Gill, Mike Gordon (Phish), and Inara George (band founder Lowell's daughter)-you have musical treasure in your hands. Their most recent studio album is Kickin' It At The Barn, produced by Feat-ers Paul Barrere, Bill Payne and Fred Tackett. It's named after the place it was recorded throughout 2003, Tackett's barn-come-studio in Topanga Canyon, which Bill Payne has called Little Feat's version of The Band's 'Big Pink', and which lent an invaluable ambience to the undertaking.

Go to artist profile. Los Relámpagos del Norte was a norteño band formed in the early 1960s by Cornelio Reyna and Ramón Ayala. The band is best known as a duo. Cornelio Reyna was the lead singer and bajo sexto player, while Ramon Ayala was the background vocalist and the accordion player.

The same goes for our Band. Little Feat could play "Happy Birthday" and you would recognize us immediately. 3 days before the concert, at 7 am, we stood in the terminal of the Cologne airport, starring at the escalator of the flight from New York. One by one we saw the well-known faces show up, except for one. Only after a seemingly endless waiting period he came. Finally Lowell George was there, to. Peter Ruechel, 1977, from Club Info.

Although Payne has been in the music industry for more than 30 years, playing on more than 350 records, he did not release a solo album until the all-instrumental "Cielo Norte" in February 2005. He wrote or co-wrote many of the songs in Little Feat's catalogue, including: "Snakes on Everything" "Strawberry Flats" "Truck Stop Girl" "Brides of Jesus" "Tripe Face Boogie" "Got No Shadow" "Oh Atlanta" "Time Loves A Hero" "Gringo". This record is just fantastic, and I am proud to be the first to review this release on Discogs.Bill Payne is best known as the keyboard/piano player in the group "Little Feat".In "Little Feat" he contributed with some very solid works - for instance "Time Loves a Hero" and "Gringo". However: Listening to his songs gave you the impression that Bill Payne had the potential of much more than the Little Feat context gave room for - apparently Bill Payne had "hidden powers under the hood", and those who noticed his lyrical expression and elegant harmonic progressions in "Little Feat" context could only hope that he would one day release an album in which these qualities would come to full advantage. They do so on this CD - and yet one can easily hear the line and the atmosphere of the best of LittleFeats tunes. The genre I would almost describe as "West Coast rock" tradition (a la "Doobie Bros", Mallard), but "Cielo Norte" is in no way "traditional" - at the contrary this release sparkles of imagination and exciting events. If you are already familiar with names like "Keith Jarrett", and "Chick Corea" you shoulddefinitely give this album a chance. Cielo Norte can be heard for free at Spotify, ITunes and several other Internet stationsGive his compositions a listen and judge for yourself if the above is an exaggeration. A highly recommended record. This CD is not for those who: ..A priori opt instrumental music, and lose interest if there isn't a singer in the foreground. ..Want to be able to hum-along on simple predictable tunes - even the first time you hear them. ..Need monotonous disco rhythms as a crutch for your dance...Doesn't like the idea of improvisational rhythmic / harmonic flavor in music...Prefer muddy garage-sound rather than crystal-clear sound.
