The Mutton Birds was a band from New Zealand formed in Auckland in 1991 by Don McGlashan, Ross Burge, and David Long. All three members came into the band with experience: McGlashan came from Blam Blam Blam and The Front Lawn, guitarist Long had played in the Six Volts and Burge had played in the Spines and Sneaky Feelings. Burge was also playing in Dribbling Darts alongside the Mutton Birds.

Conference of the Birds is an album by the band Om, with Al Cisneros on bass and vocals and Chris Hakius on drums. It was released on April 17, 2006 on CD, and on May 15, 2006 on vinyl, both through Holy Mountain. The album was pressed on black (2000 pressings), clear orange (500), and clear green vinyl (500). It was released on CD in Japan by Leaf Hound Records and includes a bonus track, "Bedouin's Vigil," which was originally released on the split 7" with Six Organs of Admittance.
Conference of the Birds has the ability to get underneath the skin of the listener and keep burrowing. These guys have Syd Barrett's sense of efficacy - slow, slower, slowest - clear Sisyphean trudges toward some unholy and unseen peak that ends pretty much in the same place they began.
