Hollywood Holiday" was a sort of signature tune for True West, encapsulating the band's lowdown, California aesthetic. A fine intro to the band, as it includes their debut EP, True West, produced by Tolman and the Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn.

This package includes the Hollywood Holiday mini LP, the full-length Drifters album and the demo sessions the band recorded with Television's Tom Verlaine. The original Hollywood Holiday recording sessions took place between 1982 and 1983, and documented a band on the ascendance. These sessions depict a kind of post-new-wave, proto-alt-rock group who fused a raw, punk-inspired energy with a discerning ear for melody.

Notes

Comprises all of 'True West' EP (recorded in January 1983) plus three new songs (recorded in August 1983) with the new line-up. These new songs are different versions than the songs recorded for the next LP, 'Drifters'.

Back cover erroneously switches Side 1 & Side 2 track listings.
Track A4 misspelled as 'Hollywood Holyday' on back cover and album spine, but is correctly spelled on Side 2 label and on album front cover.

Front cover photo from 1942 U.S. film 'Captains of the Clouds'.

On this version the sleeve gives title of track A4 as "Hollywood holyday". The spine title also states "Hollywood holyday!" The label on the disc gives "Hollywood holiday" and the cover track listing reverses the label order, so that this track becomes B4, in error one assumes. A bit of a mess.
