Various Artists - 'The Wild Angels' (A Girlsville International Cassette Day Compilation) on WAX MUSIC'S 50 Best Records of 2016 "A wild combination of power pop nuggets and rock n roll notoriety – ‘Wild Angels‘. crafted together all the misfits, degenerates and punks they could find and created something cohesive and glorious. Mixing classic cult groups with newly birthed bands, Girlsville arranged something timeless and undeniably convivial. RJ, WAX MUSIC "Being that this is Girlsville, you know you're getting a really awesome mix of garage trash, girl.

The Wild Angels is an English rock and roll group. The group got their name from the 1966 Roger Corman film The Wild Angels starring Peter Fonda. The Wild Angels was formed in the summer of 1967 with Mal Gray on vocals, John Hawkins on guitar, John Huggett on keyboards, Mitch Mitchell on bass guitar, and Bob O’Connor on drums. John Huggett was soon replaced by Pete Adderson.

I found this album one day purely by chance while riffling through old records at a thrift store.

Ten songs cut by various incarnations of the group: the Wild Angels (in early 1966), the Sassy Ones (in late 1966 and early 1967), and a spinoff outfit, the Renaissance (which played garage-psychedelic rock, and paired two of the Sassy Ones with two male musicians). This is an unusual relic, primarily because there were relatively few girl groups who were so unhoned, and recorded under such primitive conditions. None of the songs were released, and the group had little material to work with, meaning that even at a mere ten tracks, Distortions had to stretch things to reach LP length.
