Strange Trails is Lord Huron’s sophomore album, following their previous album, Lonesome Dreams, and their two EPs Into the Sun and Mighty. The album contains a series of loosely connected narratives from the point of view of a cast of characters. On the physical CD copy, the narrators are listed next to each song and proceed as such: Buck Vernon (Dead Man’s Hand, Fool For Love, Cursed, and Louisa).

On their follow-up, Strange Trails, Lord Huron settle into the Western themes and sense of open prairies that marked the band's debut, Lonesome Dreams. Frontman/songwriter Ben Schneider fully embraces the American West/Troubadour character, illustrated even in song titles like "Dead Man's Hand," "Meet Me in the Woods," and "The Yawning Grave.

Strange Trails is the second studio album by indie rock band Lord Huron. It was released by PIAS Recordings on April 7, 2015, in the United Kingdom, and by Iamsound the next day in the United States.
