Muttersprache is the ninth studio album by German recording artist Sarah Connor. It is her first album to be primarily recorded in German. Muttersprache debuted on top of on the German Albums Chart, marking her second number-one album following 2005's Naughty but Nice. Muttersprache is primary an pop and R&B album. In the early 2010s, with a heavily damaged public image, Sarah Connor found that being relatable on music and talent competition TV shows, covering popular German songs, playing nice, was getting her good press. Before, she had always been about scandals. Relationship scandals. Public embarrassments. Sexually charged music and performances. Did she wear panties or not?" is LITERALLY the question that turned her into a star overnight. So why not release an album full of gentle poprock.
From what I understand, Sarah Connor used to make albums in English, and this is her first album in her mother tongue (Muttersprache, hence the title). Maybe it's German pop with American influences instead of accordions. A knowledge of German obviously makes the album more enjoyable. Still, the consensus among friends that have heard it is "We don't know what it is, but we like it. She can really sing.
